Julien Klopfenstein is a French choreographer, performer, and movement director, working across contemporary dance, site-specific performance, and moving image.

Trained at the National Conservatoire of Music and Dance of Lyon, he joined Budapest Dance Theatre company in 2018 before developing an international freelance career, performing across Europe, including at the 60th Biennale di Venezia (2024).

His choreographic work unfolds through stage works, site-specific projects, and moving image, often engaging with architecture and unconventional spaces to explore the complexities of the human experience.

He also works as a movement director for fashion and music productions, teaches contemporary dance and movement workshops, and gives lectures about his practice, including at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (Leeds, UK).
